Abstract

This project is purpose to build ultrasonic controller system with microcontroller as the brain of the rangefinder to assembly the program using Code Vision C programming. Ultrasonic is the system based on sound reflection. It used the Sound Navigation and Ranging (SONAR) technique for finding the distance and direction of a remote object underwater by transmitting sound waves and detecting reflections from it. The objective of this project is to design a system could be used in the case of a blackout where a person needs to find his way through a dark building and cannot see where the walls are. The system works by emitting a continuous stream of ultrasonic pulses from the front of car and using the return times of the pulses to calculate distance. At the same time, the device emits a sequence of audible beeps, the rate of which varies with distance. At close range, the beeps fade into a constant tone. The project is divided into parts hardware for transmitter circuit and receiver circuit. For software design divided into two things: 1) transmit a 40kHz pulse, and 2) detect when the pulse is received. The program will be written using C and implemented on Code Vision C programming. The complete design will be display the distance and the speed on LCD. Fabrication on PCB will be carried out and PCB drafting will used proto board. Final product will be tested to ensure the product works correctly.
