Abstract
Hydroponics plantation growth can be improved with constant monitoring system. However, the data that acquired can be large dependent on the size of the plantation and can possible create congestion data traffic to the cloud server and resulting in losses of data. In this project, a monitoring system integrated with a network of sensors function to collect data from air and water temperature, humidity, nutrient concentration, pH as well as water level of reservoir is being developed. The real-time data stored in the IoT cloud assist farmer to assess data easier through database onto their portable device or smart phone for future reference. The growth of the plants are captured in the form of JPEG image and compared with sensors data transmitted using Wi-Fi. Mobile app is developed to remotely view the growth of the plantation. The performance of the system is investigated through the speed of data processing. From the experimental results, average elapsed time of the sensor parameters that being measured is at 16.32s, image capture process is taken 9.57s, and uploading document to cloud storage is taken about 6.89s. The time interval to execute sensor parameter measurement is at 5 minutes, 6 hours for image capture process, and 1 hour for upload document to cloud.
