Abstract

Tolerance is defined as allowable variation in the geometry and positioning of parts in mechanical assembly. Function of tolerance is to guarantee its proper functionality. In the case of River Trash Collector System, which one of the main body that has been choose to analysed which is Scissor Lifter. Scissor Lifter is an equipment which is to lift up the rubbish bin once it is totally full. Plus, this application makes the worker at Malacca River easier to collect all the rubbish. Therefore, Tolerance Stack Analysis would be very crucial before do the fabrication of Scissor Lifter in order to confirm the Scissor Lifter will design fit together properly, function efficiently and the most important is to minimize all the tolerances involved to obtain a cost effective part. Besides that, identifying product specification of each part that consist on Scissor Lifter would be very important. These specifications based on material of each part and type of threaded. Material selection and manufacturing process will influence the analyse tolerance. The help of Tolcap Software will give result in term of Process Capability Index (Cpk) for each dimension.
