Abstract

This project was focused to the analysis of plastic flow in 2 plate injection mould. A 2 plate injection mould was designed for a spoon and a fork plastic product. The 2 plate mould has a cavity which consists of the spoon and fork at the same cavity. Solidwork software is used for part modeling as well as Rhinoceros for mesh modeling. The material flow analysis is done using Moldex software. The analysis helps to predict the flow of material into the two cavities and suggest the methods to solve problem occurs during the injection process. The analysis also was done to improve the design of gate, runner and sprue from the optimum result analysis. The analysis involved wer~ the filling melt front time, packing melt front time, cooling and warpage analysis which were determined and solved the part defects such as short shot, unequal filling, over filling, welding line, cooling time and measured the value of warpage. The next process is packing analysis which continues fulfilled the cavities with high pressure. Then solidification begins due to the low temperature of mould surfaces. After this analysis, it is important to determine any defect that might occur to the cavities based on the result analysis. Any problem is solved by detail studied on the parameters involved.
