Abstract
Laser cutting has been successfully used for cutting materials such as sheet metal. This process is generally used in many industries due to its flexibility, high accuracy as well as precision in manufacturing simple or complex design components. The quality of cut edges and dimension of kerf width are affected by laser powers, cutting speeds, gas pressure, nozzle diameter and focal point position. Wood is another material that can be cut by laser cutting which needs precision and good quality of cut. Design and analysis for laser cutting of wood was done to analyze the effect of laser power on quality of cut and kerf width. The analysis was done using ANSYS software and the results shows laser power has caused high temperature on wood and burning of cut edges.
