Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop an angular speed detection system using a special Infra-Red sensor (IR) where the receiver photodiode can detect black and white color with a small differences voltage signal when the shaft motor was rotating. Firstly, the black and whjte color sticker must be stacked at the motor shaft before detecting process begins. Then the errutter IR sensor will errut infrared light continuously when the motor shaft is rotating. The receiver photodiode will received the reflected infrared light and convert into voltages. These differences of voltages signals can be used as a counting signal. With a fix duration of time, counting process can be done depend on the rotating shaft. This counting signal process can be achieved by using a microcontroller PIC (Programmable Interface Controllers). This project used power supply of 5V that coming from 9V battery or step-down 5V from power socket. The 5V voltage is minimum requirement power supply for PIC and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) display. The 16F627 A PIC uses C-Compiler software for programrrung. To write the program, an efficiency of C-Language is required. The program starts by set up the 110 hardware and then the counting program. After that, the result of shaft rotation whlch is in rev/min is shown through LCD display.
