Abstract

This project is focused on three-dimensional image reconstruction of a stereo camera. A stereo camera has abilities to perform a stereo vision application. Therefore, instead of using an industrial machine vision system , webcam cameras were used to replace the eyes of the ste reo vision system in this project. Thus, by integrating the camera system with Python programming language and OpenCV as the vision library to petforrn the calibration process of 3 D images and the stereo vision program to determine the measurement of depth information of a product. This procedure starts with setting up the camera placement for both webcam cameras and placed it onto a table tripod. After that, a 3D calibration process program will calibrate the 3D images by taking 40-50 images of a chessboard pattern for both cameras to be used on the main stereo vision program to determine the depth information of a product in height measurement. The as sessment for this project will be held to evaluate the actual measurement versus the estimated measurement in height or depth measurement. A disparity map or depth map was created during the development of stereo vision. A morphological filter of close filter and a (Weight Least Square) WLS filter instances was used . Furthermore, the result for this project will be used for future development of th e stereo vision u s in g a webcam camera to indicate some change or refinement.
