Abstract

Malaysia is located in a climate with hot and humid zone. Everyone usually use conventional air conditioning system with mechanical ventilation appliance to get cool indoor air temperature. But in the special place such as transmission electron microscope laboratories, ammunition depot and hospitals need quiet, and almost static airflow velocity are not convenient to use it. These condition make the radiant cooling system graduated adopted in the modern air conditioning system for primarily use. A radiant cooling system are usually use hydronic system, cool the air using circulating cold water running in pipes in thermal contact with the surface. When the surface is cool then it radiate heat to occupant. The surface also conduct heat to people that touch them and cool the air by convection heat transfer as well. In this thesis, there are three method to be used. The first method is design the building prototype for experiment work. Then from this design, fabrication process is use to build the prototype building follow the specification that have been assigned in the design process. Last method is focus on experimental work, which is all measurement process is taken in this method. For example, the temperature of water at inlet and the temperature of the surface of wall is measure and as a result, different temperature for inlet water will give different temperature to the surface. When the temperature at inlet is decreases, the temperature at surface will be decreases also and cooling load requirement can be achieve. Wei-Hwa Chiang, Jian-Sheng Huang, and Yen-Hsiang Huang (2010) found that the better operative efficiency occur when the temperature of inlet water is 18 ˚C and the flow rate of water is 100 LPM without make condensation water on the radiant panel surface.(Chiang, Huang, & Huang, 2010).
