Abstract

Planning is important in all business operation. Man machine ratio is the work forces to the operational machines. In this business competitive environment, the effective use of machines and personnel is essential in manufacturing for high return of investment. Personnel capacity requirement is a planning of the man power needed to fulfil the customer demand. Balancing man-power and machine is not an easy task. Therefore, the aims of this research are to introduce the simulation of the production process in the personnel capacity planning. Arena Simulation software is the technique to carry out the personnel capacity planning research. The simulation results are displayed statistically with the help of simulation software according the implemented methodology. The simulation results are discussed in the study which is utilisation, queuing and bottleneck of production process. Based on the results, it is allows the planner to determine the capacity of production process in more accurate and faster way. The highest utilisation of operator is Assembly Operator. The bottleneck of the Lamination Section is the Heater and Roller conveyor which has average waiting time 335.8 minutes and average 64 parts are waiting. As conclusion, the study is carried out successfully with it able to fulfil the objectives of study where simulation is a tool which provides a better visualisation of production process for the planner to determine the personnel capacity requirement without affecting the real system.
