Abstract
This project discussed about the design properties of product based on the customer needs using Customer Satisfaction (CS), Kansei Engineering (KE), Cognitive Style, Image Visual Processing and Semantic Differential (SD). To identify, investigate, and determine what the characteristic of products required by customer, this project conducted the preliminary test survey, post-test, main survey through the develop questionnaires in Melaka as respondents towards car design as a case study. Based on what they motivation when they buy the car and what they relevant attributes to their preferences as well as the technical requirements of the product, beside the emotional or effective perspective of the product design., this project employ SPSS 15 software and AMOS software for statistical data analysis. The result of main survey shows that the preference of product design is related to price, strength and shape itself. While towards the emotional design as articulated through Semantic Differential (SD) towards Kansei Words towards 3 types of car (Sedan Car, City Car, and MPV). Since the customer prefer the design of product that are actually contradiction among their technical characteristic (simple, exclusive, sporty, smart and modem).
