Abstract

This traffic light system is an improvement of conventional road construction traffic light system. The most common way of safety indication nowadays is performed by traffic controller or so called flagman. There are a few systems that created to replace the usage of flagman in construction area yet these systems are not effective enough. For existing traffic light system, it is just operating on pre-program time based. By using new proposed road construction traffic light system, it is equipped with 2 types of sensor. Front sensor is able to detect the presence of vehicle at the entrance of a certain road construction. The indicator light will only change when there are vehicles detected. Besides, the second sensor is used to count the total number of vehicles that are entering and exiting the construction area. If there are many vehicles waiting at the road construction site then the traffic light system will operate at fix preprogram system which is time based. Another feature of this system is a remote control for contractor to control the traffic light system when there are construction vehicles entering or exiting the construction area. This would reduce or avoid unwanted accident to be occurred. Such a system would be beneficial toward human in the long run.
