Abstract

Cumulative trauma disorder is a disease that can affect bones, muscles, tendons, and nerves system of human body. Cumulative trauma disorder develops injuries occur repeatedly when human over use or misappropriate usage of a body part. The immediate impact may be minute, but when it occurs repeatedly the constant trauma cause damage to the body system. These conditions are often focused on a joint and usually affect the muscle, bone, tendon or bursa of the joint. One of the most famous cumulative trauma disorders is carpal tunnel syndrome. The carpal tunnel is a passageway in the wrist. The Carpal Tunnel is formed by the Transverse Carpal Ligament on the underside of the wrist. Whenever something presses on the median nerve (bone, tendon or fluid) it hurts. When that happens inside the Carpal Tunnel, one of the most common places, it is called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are that we feel pain in the wrists and hands as well as fingers. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome often weakens your thumb and your grip as well. Therefore, investigation needed to be done to prevent cumulative trauma disorder. In this report, we include the collection data of questionnaire, vibration force and gripping data from the aerospace workers and also analyse of the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) to further investigate the causes to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).
