Abstract

Autonomous mobile robot navigating towards a preset target is a robot that consists of for elements in one which are beacon as the target of robot navigation, sonar system for obstacle avoidance, hardware and control of the locomotion system and finally programming for the robot task planner. This thesis concentrates one of the major elements on the hardware and control design and development for mobile robot locomotion. It is all about how to move the robot from one place to another in any particular direction that is necessary. From the problem, a wheeled locomotion system was developed using servo motor and Programmable Integrated Circuit (PIC) with implemented PWM on the system. The project focused on two aspects which are the hardware design and programming development for the locomotion system purpose. Later the hardware and control of the locomotion system was combined together with the other elements to fulfill the main objectives of this autonomous mobile robot.
