Abstract

The experiment to examine the relationship of the surface roughness whilst turning in form steel, the main objective is to identify the surface roughness in the turning operation. The experiment was setup with the machining operation using CNC turning machine. The value of the spindle speed and machining time was change for every machining operation. After that the work piece that was machining was check the surface roughness value using surface roughness tester machine. To check the surface integrity, the metallurgy microscope was used to look up the surface of the workpiece. The experiment was used the tungsten alumina coated cutting tool and the material that will be used in the experiment is medium carbon steel rounded bar. The machining was run in the dry machining because the tool that was used is suitable in dry cutting condition.
