Abstract

The project of "An Automated Synchronizing System For Electrical Machine Laboratory" is conduct to enhance knowledge of the synchronizing requirement for the three phase synchronous generator connected to TNB main in Lab View graphical user interface. The project is also able to display in real time reading for three phase voltage waveform, frequency, phase sequence and phase difference in the synchronization system. This project contains two parts which are hardware development and software development. The purpose of the project is to observe and control the synchronization condition automatically. This is done by using the hardware of signal conditioning system to obtain the suitable output to be connected to input of the data acquisition card (DAQ). LabView software is used to program and display the output virtually on the computer and to control the control system to achieve synchronization. The project uses closed loop control system concept, where th~ program will process the data of Vrms, Frequency, phase sequence and phase difference. After that, this parameter will be compared between both synchronous generator and utility main. This project will focus on two synchronization criteria, which are speed control and phase sequence. The program will control the speed of DC motor to do automatic adjustment if it does not achieve the synchronization requirement. Furthermore, it will perform automatic swap to correct phase sequence if the phase sequence is different with the TNB main. The program is also able to trigger the hardware synchronization switch to tum on once the systems achieve the synchronization requirement.
