Abstract

The interest in using Hot Dip Galvanized in industry as a method to against the corrosion to the product has increased dramatically during the last few decades in regard to the quality and cost durability. The overall aims of this report are to studying the processing involves during the Hot Dip Galvanizing progression, to investigate the effect of bath temperature, immersion time and withdrawal speed to the coating thickness on the stay plate product at Jati Beringin Sdn. Bhd and to determine the optimum parameters between the bath temperature, immersion time and withdrawal speed to get the best quality of coating thickness by using the full factorial approach. The processing commonly related with a few stages such as preparation of work for galvanizing, fluxing, galvanizing and cooling stage. In order to run this research, an experimental was being conducted at the respective company. The experiment has been provided response of the coating thickness result that measured from the stay plate product. Regarding to the standard utilization, the coating thickness of the product must be more than 85Jlm. For this experiment, MJNIT AB software that implemented full factorial approach has been used to ease the experimental flow, analyze the result and obtain the best setting of parameters used to get the optimum results. Based on the experiment done, the result obtained various value of coating thickness. The MINITAB software successfully investigate the effect of bath temperature, immersion time and withdrawal speed to coating thickness for stay plate product and the interactions among of the factors. The MINIT AB software also analyzed it and capable to came out with suggestion value of parameters involved in this experiment to get the optimum value of coating thickness following the standard and requirement. Finally, the entire conclusion provided to conclude the findings of this research in chapter 5.
