Abstract

This project is about ergonomics study of cockpit arrangement in UTeM Formula Varsity Race Car. Comfort in the cockpit of a racing car will usually be ignored However, ergonomics in the cockpit is important because this will influence the control of the driver of the car racing. Referring to UTeM Formula Varsity Race Car, the cockpit is good, but there are some limitations that can be further developed in terms of design and ergonomics arrangement in the cockpit. The real problem is that the small space for the driver is in the cockpit that can interfere with control of the racing car. This is even worse when only some people can only enter the cockpit completely. Space in the cockpit must be able to accommodate about 95 percentile male. Scientific studies conducted earlier on ergonomics and cockpit itself. This will lead to a study by the cockpit of the existing design to be done until a decision analysis. Then, to be designed several new cockpit designs, complete with the basic components that should be there in the cockpit. RULA analysis is done on the new design to produce results as expected. After all the results obtained, the comparison made to existing designs and new designs. Then, together with the discussion of the justification was made with some additional aspects such as safety aspects
