Abstract
This project 1s focused on analyzing fracture behavior (Mode I) of fiber reinforced plastic composite via e>.'J>erimental and finite element analysis simulation. The project will involved on developing a test specimen which is a glass fiber reinforced composite using epoxy resin as the matrix material. Three point bending test will be conducted on to the specimen (mode 1 fracture behavior). As for the finite element analysis simulation (Virtual Testing), Nastran Patran is used to model the test specimen and simulate the crack growth and determine the location of the cracks expected to grow. From both experiment and simulation, observation and analysis are conducted to compare the results of each method.
