Abstract
This final year project is about doing static analysis of the performance of the Linear DC Motor (LDM). Linear DC Motor is popular due to advantages offered by such as flexibility in size and desi~, and deliver hi~h performance for applications requirin~ lin.ear motion. This project generally based on varying coil size of LDM in achieving desired performance. Basically, LDM has several variable in varying its performance that are, coil diameter size,. shape of permanent magnet, number of coil winding, current supplied, value of impedance, coil material, length of the coil and flux density in the gap. By varying these entire variables, we can have a different achievement of LDM performance. However, in this project, the focus will be given on finding the optimal coil size, maximum and minimum force, electrical time constant and mechanical time constant. The impedance of the LDM will be calculated in each value coil with other variables are fixed.
