Abstract

Linear Direct Current Motor (LDM) provides alternative method to conventional rotary motor and gained popularity as linear motion drive especially in industry sector. For high thrust performance, some elements must be considered in designing the LDM. This project proposes effect of copper coil size to performance ofLDM. The size of copper coil will determine the value of coil resistance and inductance of LDM which is main factor to determine the performance of LDM. The performance of LDM will be examine are includes thrust and speed response. Other factors that will be considered for this project are electrical time constant and mechanical time constant. By finding the relevent value of copper coil size, the peak performance of LDM can be determined.
