Development of Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor in cooking oil for different concentrations using LED detection.pdf - Submitted Version Download (1MB) |
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor system to detect different concentrations of cooking oil using LED detection. This study responds to the practical problem of monitoring cooking oil quality to ensure food safety and optimize usage. The methodology involved designing a sensor circuit where an LDR and an LED were used to measure the light absorption properties of cooking oil at various concentrations. The LED emitted light through the oil samples, and the LDR measured the resulting light intensity, which varied based on the oil's concentration. Experimental data were collected by varying the oil concentration and recording the corresponding LDR resistance. The results indicate a clear correlation between the LDR resistance and the cooking oil concentration. Specifically, as the concentration of impurities in the cooking oil increased, the LDR resistance decreased due to higher light absorption by the oil. This demonstrates that the sensor system can effectively distinguish between different concentrations of cooking oil. In conclusion, the developed LDR sensor system provides a reliable and cost-effective method for detecting cooking oil quality. This technology has significant potential for practical applications in the food industry, enabling better management of cooking oil usage and enhancing food safety. Future research could focus on refining the sensor's sensitivity and expanding its application to other liquid quality assessments.
