Abstract

In the dynamic and competitive manufacturing sector, achieving efficiency and fostering collaboration aligned with organizational goals are vital for sustained growth. This research project focuses on implementing Material Requirement Planning (MRP) practices to establish an appropriate inventory level. MRP is a system for calculating the materials and components needed to manufacture a product. The study has three specific objectives: (i) to examine raw materials sourced from suppliers in the manufacturing industry, (ii) to implement the MRP system within the manufacturing industry, and (iii) to propose suitable inventory levels for the manufacturing industry. The framework for this study has been planned and arranged based on a literature study related to MRP. This study utilizes data collection method focused on a case study conducted within the manufacturing industry. By employing qualitative and quantitative approaches, the researchers aim to comprehensively assess equipment efficacy by applying MRP. The collected data is then meticulously analyzed to propose suitable inventory levels using Ishikawa diagrams, enabling a deeper understanding of the underlying factors influencing inventory management. Furthermore, the study offers valuable insights and recommendations for improvement by implementing the Why-Why Analysis technique. The findings and suggestions from this research have practical potential for application in Company X Sdn Bhd, a manufacturing industry. This research enhances inventory management practices and improvements to reach the proper inventory level in the manufacturing sector by studying suppliers, implementing MRP, and suggesting optimal inventory levels. The outcomes provide practical insights for professionals to optimize inventory control, streamline operations, and gain a competitive edge.
