Abstract

Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a progressive method for additive manufacturing, employing an electric arc and continuous wire feed to build up material layer by layer. This study focuses on addressing anisotropy issues in WAAM products, particularly stainless steel, aiming to achieve isotropic characteristics. Optimal welding parameters to attain an 8mm thickness include a 4m/min wire feed rate, 12.4V voltage, and 140A current. Tensile tests reveal varied behavior across specimens, with side B exhibiting higher tensile stress (694.317MPa) compared to side A (601.292MPa). Impact tests show that side A absorbs more energy (19.88J) than side B (16.21J) on average. Microstructure analysis indicates angled deposition yields superior results, with top and bottom regions showing more congested δ-ferrite compared to γ-austenite, and vice versa for the middle region. These findings offer manufacturers insights to enhance WAAM processes and product quality in the industry.
