Abstract
Natural fibres are now increasingly regularly utilised in composites as a means of environmental protection through the usage of biodegradable components. Fibre reinforced polymer-based composites have been used in a wide range of industrial applications for a very long time because of their high specific strength and modulus. It was chosen to look into employing coir, a natural fibre, as reinforcement in reinforced polymers because there are so many natural fibres readily available. Natural fibres are equally as strong and light as they are affordable. Therefore, the goal of the current study is to examine the mechanical characteristics of polyester resin reinforced with coocnut coir. In order to complete this project, the materials will be made utilising the hand lay-up method. Next, constructed components are sliced using a CNC router machine in accordance with ASTM specifications. The mechanical properties of the samples will be assessed using tensile, flexural, impact, and water absorption tests after the cutting process is complete. Statistics were used to analyse the data that had been collected. Based on the ASTM D3039, ASTM D790, ASTM D6110, and related tests of coconut coir reinforced with polyester resin for tensile, flexural, impact, and water absorption. The tensile strength and elasticity, flexural load of maximum force and maximum stress, and impact strength of the coconut coir fibre composites were then examined using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
