Abstract

This thesis titled ‘Design And Analysis Of Reinforced And Unreinforced Tank’explores the stress and deformation in tank walls, comparing unreinforced and reinforced tank designs. The focus is on understanding how reinforcement affects these factors and determining the boundary conditions of tank walls. The study employs both experimental testing and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS software, with tank designs created in CATIA V5. Through experiments and FEA, we aim to uncover differences in stress and deformation between the two tank types. The research contributes insights into the structural behavior of tank wall panels, enhancing our understanding of their performance. This study's practical aspect involves physical testing of tank prototypes, while FEA provides a virtual analysis of structural responses. By combining experimental and FEA results, we seek a comprehensive understanding of the impact of reinforcement on tank structures. The findings will inform better tank design practices, optimizing safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness. This research contributes to the advancement of tank engineering, emphasizing the importance of reinforcement in enhancing structural integrity where there is an absence of internal support.
