Abstract
The increasing amount of solid waste generated worldwide is becoming a significant problem, leading to negative environmental and health impacts. Automated waste sorting machines have the potential to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management systems, while reducing their negative impacts. This project proposes an effective methodology for sorting waste based on its type using an Arduino-based automated waste sorting machine. This uses capacitive sensors, inductive sensors, and infrared sensors to detect and classify different types of waste materials, including paper, metal, and plastic. A sorting algorithm is developed for the machine to sort the waste based on its type. As a result, the inductive sensor will be used to detect metal waste, capacitive sensors will be used to detect paper waste, and lastly, infrared sensors will be used to detect plastic waste. The automatic waste sorting machine will contribute to a cleaner environment and reduce the environment pollution. Implementing this machine will help to solve the global waste problem.
