Abstract

Health monitoring is important to every living things to help in early detection of any diseases. However in these years, many people are living through a busy and stressful life. What more, the tendency for citizen to go to hospitals for health check-up is mostly small, where citizen will not go to the hospitals unless when they feel unbearable pain. Thus this project propose a health monitoring system based on IoT (Internet of Things) that can be used at home. The health monitoring device consist of pulse sensor which was used to take the reading of heart rate from the user 's fingertip. The raw data obtained from the sensors would then undergoes some calculation to produce a reliable heart rate reading with the help of the Arduino UNO. The pulse rate measurement are displayed on the LCD Display for user to see and the data will be sent to the ThingSpeak webpage which is an IoT platform. Some experiment were designed and carried out to evaluate the performance of the heart rate readings of the device and it was observed that there were small difference of heart rate readings between those that taken manually and those that taken using the device. Despite that, the results from the device can still be accepted to indicate the actual reading on one 's hear/ rate as the average accuracy of the device from experiment A was 96.8% while 97.6%for experiment B.
