Abstract

Nowadays,the gamelan is less popular and does not be recognized by most of the people.As a consequence,well-trained gamelan musicians are difficult to find among the youths.Therefore,the electromagnetic actuated gamelan bonang system is developed.There are many types of music instruments in gamelan,bonang is the music instrument selected as the focused element in this project.The electromagnetic actuator able to knock the gamelan bonang with high force and quick response.In addition,the neodymium magnet acted as the magnetic core in the electromagnetic actuator to increase the strength of electromagnetic field.Furthermore,this project incorporates with opto-coupler gate drive and power electronics such as Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs).The IGBT with fast switching speed enable the electromagnetic actuator to knock in quick response. Along this project,the force of knocking the bonang is recorded and analyzed.There are few factors that will affect the magnitude of the knocking force,which are supply current,number of coil windings,temperature of the coil,core materials and resistance of the coil.Besides, the IGBT also play the important role in the knocking response.
