Abstract

Effective machine will enhance the productivity of plant and equipment by keeping them running more effectively with a modest investment in maintenance. It is crucial to know the capability of industrial production depends on the efficient performance of machine. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is one of the performance evaluation methods that are common and popular used in manufacturing industries to identify machine effectiveness. This study focuses on OEE system through optimization of Information, Decision and Action (IDA) method to improve manufacturing process in claypot noodles production line. Application of OEE system to time study has been carried out to increase the reliability of the time measurement result. Based on the result, OEE of all the machine in claypot noodles production line are above 70% effectiveness. Besides, Arena simulation has been carried out to simulate the whole process flow and identify bottleneck in the production line. Meanwhile, Total Productive Maintenance has been proposed to improve machine effectiveness by means of eliminating the six major losses. Set of techniques like Autonomous Maintenance (Jishu Hozen), Focus Improvement (Kaizen) and Planned Maintenance were suggested to the industry after IDA implementation to improve their maintenance procedures and improve the productivity.
