Abstract
This paper provides an overview of methods to detect, locate, and characterize damage in structural and mechanical systems by examining changes in measured vibration response. Research in vibration-based damage identification has been rapidly expanding over the last few years. The basic idea behind this technology is the role of parameters (natural frequencies, mode shapes and modal damping). The paper concludes the results obtained from laboratory experiments of signals component observation. The methods of characterisation of the material properties using advance statistical analysis of vibration signal known as the Four Dimension Integrated Kurtosis-Based Algorithm for Z-Filter (I-kaz 4D) has been developed. Also the dynamic response technique was used to compare with the result obtained by I-kaz 4D, the method showed a significant better results. The I-kaz 4D coefficients for vibration signal that have been recorded in the experiment using four piezofilm sensors simultaneously were obtained using I-kaz 4D method.
