Abstract
Nanofluid is the base fluid mix with the nanoparticle and nanofluid is the fluid that has high thermal conductivity properties. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of machining parameter (cutting speed, feed rate and type of coolants) on titanium alloy by using full factorial method and to compare the machining performance (surface roughness, tool wear and cutting force) by using different type of coolants. This study were carried out by using CNC Milling machine, coated carbide as cutting tool, titanium alloy as a workpiece, vegetable oil as a base fluid and Carbon Nanofiber (CNF) as a nanoparticles. There were two levels of parameters that were being used in this study. All the results were analysed by using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The results show that cutting speed influenced the surface roughness and cutting force while the feed rate influenced the tool wear. Other than that, it was found that the performance of nanofluid was better compared to conventional vegetable oil. It is proved that, the percentage of reduction for the surface roughness, tool wear and cutting force were 15%, 13% and 2% respectively by using nanofluid.
