Abstract
The role of product design is to create a marketable product from an innovation. It is crucial for designer or engineer to design a product which can be manufactured well. Designer and engineer can compare product design specification and the capability of the manufacturing system in order to manufacture products with high quality performance. However, sometimes it is costly and much time needed to alter the manufacturing condition and collect the require data. Hence, simulation plays an important role in the improvement process. The research study is focus on one of the method to simulate the manufacturing condition which is Monte Carlo Simulation. In this project, the stripping process in the balloon making process has been analysed in order to overcome the ‘Inverted Neck’ defect among the balloons. From there, 3 manufacturing parameters are used to carry out Design Of Experiment in order to generate a transfer equation to represent the process condition. Monte Carlo simulation is then being used to generate 3 times of 1000 run of simulation and the response which is the percentage of defect is analysed in graphical result. The Design Of Experiment and the Monte Carlo Simulation will be carried out by using Minitab Software. Furthermore, a suggested product design specification which is capable by the existing manufacturing capability is also included in this research study. As conclusion, the study is carried out successfully with achieved the objectives and recommendations for further study is provided at the end of the report.
