Abstract
Pneumatic actuator is one of the popular actuator used in industrial especially in electronic and production line. It has the benefit in low cost, small in size and fast response compared to hydraulic actuator. The PLC systems used in major industries to control the pneumatic. However, PLC system is complex in installation as it required large spaces and many wiring. Furthermore, PLC system used unable to control the position of the pneumatic actuator. Hence, in this thesis will present a new embedded system for controlling the pneumatic actuator. Optical encoder sensor is used for determining the displacement of the piston. This project will help the pneumatic actuator to develop new application and solve the issue of the piston position controlling.
