Abstract

This research aims to develop an autonomous robot that perform 'cruise-and-collect' algorithm which is useful especially in sports (like table-tennis and badminton) where the balls might be thrown everywhere in the court during a game. 'Cruise-and-collect' algorithm involves the capability of robot to move autonomously whilst having the capability to gather objects along its designated path. A collect system is realized via a group of LEDs to signal the collecting act of the system. The cruise system is designed such as it follows a pre-planned path. The programming of the system is done via the Flowcode software, which accepts flowcharts as its design entry. This application even though are widely developed, it is found as a good application system to be realized via an ARM-based processor as certain amount of real-time information processing are required and further extension of this research is possible for other field of application. With this autonomous robot application, the development tools and software system of ARM-based processor had been further investigated. The development tools exposed in this project is also hoped to be benefitted for researchers who wishes to develop an ARMbased system in a limited time constraint.
