Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop a new controller for a flying vehicle application. It mainly describes a design and development of a wireless PC-based as its controller for any flying application robots. The robot consists of a mini-aerial helicopter with a build-in integrated camera that has RF communication linked to a PC-based controller that manipulated by a Graphical User Interface (GUI) program. In this project, it focuses on development of the software and hardware. The controller and the flying robot communicated through wireless communications by using a couple of full duplex transceivers. For the hardware part, the controller consists of microcontroller and embedded systems that controlling the variable resistor of the servo motor movement in the flying robot. On the other hand, the software part mainly discussing the instructional method of the robot to fly with specific location and also pre-program location. Therefore, the main objective is build simulating and visualizing high-performance robot systems for further image acquisition and analysis. The test result is well described and the vision data captured is encouraging for future development. Some negative result is also being noted for further in1provement of the flying robot system.
