Abstract

During the past several years, the application of robots have been widely used in various area including military, medical, survival, rescue mission, human service etc. Generally robot can be categorized into three main applications i.e. application on land, under water and open sky. The idea of this project is to design and develop a basic Tele-robot that can be used in the university's area to monitoring the surveillance and to make sure the area is under security. This robot can be controlled using laptop with RF communication embedded with movable IP camera and can be monitored via laptop as well as other PCs that connected to the internet. For this research Tele Robot is chosen for further study in the area of interfacing between controller via computer or laptop and the vehicle (robot). This research more toward study the communication between the robot as the platform to carry the payload such as sensor and transducer for collecting the data and to perform the task such as scout the surveillance area and able to pick up the object using it robotic arm. The focusing of this research concentrates in developing the graphic user interfacing (GUI) robot controller including video display in the same monitor for security purpose. The GUI software use in this project using Microsoft Visual Basic version 6.0 as it much easier and compatible with all type Windows Operating system (OS). This project can be used by the security department to monitor surveillance during or after office hours. This Security Tele-Robot (STR) is equipped with IP camera with capable to rotate horizontal and vertical 50". This feature allows the security officer to monitor the surveillance area more flexible via.
