Abstract

Hemiplegia is defined as paralysis on one side of the body caused by brain damage, while hemiparesis is weakness or partial paralysis on one side of the body caused by brain damage, usually contrary to the location of cerebral vascular accident (CVA) or other brain injury. Because of the weaknesses, neurological patients with hemiparesis having trouble doing normal daily activities such as dressing, eating, typing and exercise. Currently, there are various types of treatments used to regain strength and movement from the side involved including rehabilitation treatments such as CIMT, electrical simulations, mirror therapy, home exercises and aids. Furthermore, a tool known as CBAS-X support alleviating patient burden has been developed. This device depicted to be used as one of exercise device in addition to the current usage of daily usage. However, studies on the effectiveness and the extent to which this can help and ease this problem have not been identified. This study was to look at the differences between normal human nerve conditions and patient nerves. The aim is to analyze the differences in the patient's nervous condition if wearing and not wearing the aid. Electromyography (EMG) is used for this research in obtaining such respondent information, survey, questionnaire, skin preparation, and standard of operation (SOP). This device is expected to reduce the fatigue in the nerves experienced by patients and in turn can help patients in doing daily life better and produce comprehensive analysis and validation of the effectiveness of the usage of CBAS-X and confirming the muscle activity based on the percentage of average RMS values between without and with assistive device. Lastly, this research has achieved the objective which is to gain muscle strength then ease the patient in daily activities.
