Abstract

Air Powered Motorcycle (APM) has been design to minimize the effect of the global warming. It used compressed air as a source to operate the motorcylcle and it is believed to produce zero emission vechicle. This zero emission motorcycle was designed to invent a street motorcycle concept, but the existing chassis structure of ‘O2 Persuit’ is not suitable to use in this project because it use off-road concept. Furthermore, the weight of chassis structure is the main factor that affect the performance of the motorcycle. The existing ‘Honda Zoomer’ motorcycle was used as benchmarking product in design a new chassis structure, especially about it shape and dimension. Several modifications were made on the shape and size of the motorcycle chassis structure to ensure it is suitable for attached with air motor, air tank, suspension, brakes and others. Most of the latest computer program intended to design and analysis which is easy to understand. For structural analysis, two types of material will apply in static analysis of the new chassis structure and the comparison result of the analysis will use for chosen the most suitable material. Therefore, a new motorcycle chassis structure was designed by using the Computer Aided-Design (CAD) system and the static analysis was done by using a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) system in order to ensure the motorcycles will be produced to achieve the objectives of this project. Both of this process were used the Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA V5) software.
