Abstract

Current methQds Qf distributing Qutage notificatiQns are mainly througb emails, websites, vQicemail, SMS and technQlQgy fQrums. These methods require allOt Qf manual filtering, which takes allOt Qf time and effQrts. 1bis thesis proposes an alternate sQlutiQn tQ hQW an Qutage nQtificatiQn and remedial actiQns are distributed. The alternate methQd develQped in this thesis tries tQ minimize manual wQrk carried lOut by end-users. A client server architecture is initiated and the methQd to be undertaken needs tQ be fully implemented. 1bis method involves having providers and CQnsumers. The CQnsumers being end-users that wants tQ know about Qutages and providers being distributQrs Qf nQtificatiQns. Apart from that, there are detailed process Qfthe system which will be defined fQr the interiQr Qf the design. The cQmprehensive design enables the understanding Qfthe system much deeper. A standard fQnn is alSQ designed tQ describe netwQrk Qutage as presently there is nQne. 1bis thesis invQlves develQping sQftware fQr both CQnsumers and providers, whereby the sQftware will be able tQ display relevant nQtificatiQns that migbt affect end-users. and. 1bis thesis eQuId potentially be extended tQ invQlve Qther fQrms Qf nQtificatiQns and nQt just netwQrk Qutage.
