Abstract

Total number of road accident increases in Malaysia invites various issues on how it’s happened. According to the report issued by Royal Malaysia Police and Road Safety Department, fatal accident increased every year. Among the factors that may be associated is the low visibility condition and secondary accident happened. Hence, present emergency devices need to be studied whether it can work in any situation and at the same time new mechanisms which can give a warning to all road users is need in order to reduce the rate of fatal accidents caused by the secondary accident. So, the production of electric ball and its mechanism as emergency equipment is appropriate in solving the problem. In this project, the design of electronic ball and firing mechanism is very important so that both components can function properly during emergency. Apart from that, the selection of appropriate materials for these products is also necessary so that this product durable and it is light to be support by holder one of the components in firing mechanism. Analysis of Von Misses stress and displacement on ball surface is to know the strength of material used for electronic ball in order to support the weight of electronic ball components when force applied on ball surface. In fact, the same analysis also performed on firing mechanism holder which acts to sustain the electronic ball and firing mechanism weight. In workability test, the theoretical calculation of electronic ball launch distance in a certain period of time was carried out based on the acceleration produced when spring force applied. Furthermore, the theoretical calculation for light intensity is important for this product whether it can work during low visibility condition. The different light intensity values are obtained due to the different radius of range used
