Abstract

This project is to design and develop an "Automated Guided Electric Vehicle" using microcontroller. This project combines the knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical. The main goal of this project is to build a robot which its functions are similar to commercial automated guided vehicle (AGV). This vehicle is powered by onboard batteries pack that allow hours of operation between recharging. Typically, this vehicle would able to perform such movements: moving forward, reverse, left and right to aid in transporting stuff (load). Moreover, the vehicle will be equipped with a selfnavigating system to allow it more reliable, in detecting and avoiding collision. Microcontroller will be employed, that will acts as the vehicle main brain to facilitate the vehicle performing its maneuver and in the mean time define the vehicle pathways. A specific program command will be developed for the microcontroller before it can be integrated with the vehicle mechanical system. In order to upload the program into the microcontroller, a particular circuit known as JDM programmer will be assembled. For supplying the rnicrocontroller circuit, another type of circuit will be developed where its output value satisfy the requirement of the rnicrocontroller operating voltage. The final product could be applied in various sectors, particularly in material handling system disregarding human interface, where it was build to operate independently. This could be beneficial for the industrial sector in increasing the productivity rate process.
