Abstract
Maximum Power Point Tracking referred as MPPT is an electronic system that allows the Photovoltaic (PV) modules to produce all the power they are capable of. It varies the electrical operating point of the modules so that the modules are able to deliver maximum available power. Additional power harvested from the modules is available for battery increment charge current. Boost converter (DC/DC converter) is used to track the possible maximum output power and simultaneously controls the charging process of battery. DC/DC converter is controlled by a microcontroller. 8-bit Microcontroller application was used to detect the maximum power point in order to trigger the signal on converter switching. Microcontroller calculates the power from panel and battery current and voltage then sending the control signal to the converter to operate.
