Abstract

An effective Security System must be able to minimize, if not to eliminate, a break-in. A good security system has to be designed and carefully installed according to its environment in order for it to work well. It must not restrict the occupant's lifestyle but remains effective, simple and trouble free in operational at all times. The basic feature of this project is to develop a security system as well as keyless entry system (for example, combination lock), to unlock a house door via CAN (Controller Area Network) communication. This system is able to communicate and control different nodes such as detector nodes, switch nodes, sensors as well as the alarm system using the same 2-wires in the CAN Bus. The advantage of CAN Bus is that it has remarkable operation even in high noise environments. User enters a series of number and alphabets where the data are then sent from the keypad node to the related nodes to execute desired operation. For example, a particular combination may be used to open the door and turning off the alarm system, while another password may only the door while triggering a delayed alarm. This system also allows the process of system expansion as well as improvement when required in the future.
