Abstract

Knuckle steering was an automotive component that undergoes to the timevarying loading during it service life. The cyclic loading onto it can lead the component fatigue and tendency to fail which mean crack or crash. Therefore this research program aimed to recognise the reliability of the knuckle steering and it lifetime during it services by using a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). By researching using a CAE, the study of steering knuckle can be done by computer stimulation and with that we able to cut the operation cost for that studies. In order to find the reliability for its fatigue of knuckle steering the value of the loading cyclic had been search before by took a sample of the other researcher of the fatigue of knuckle steering and the result will be analyze by using the Finite Analysis Element method. In this analysis we look the changes that happened in model after a load had been put on it. We also determine the area that experience a high pressure compared to the other area by determines it code’s colour. With this observation we can look the critical area that with high tendency to fatigue or fail which is the area that firstly cracks or crash. Beside that this analysis will predict the reliability of the model by observing the period of the model after a repeated loading had been put on it before the model show the tendency to fail or fatigue.
