Abstract
Low-pressure fuel pumps of electronic fuel injection system (EFI) pressurize the fuel at approximately 3 bar to be injected at each cylinder ports. However, the pumping process would rise a fuel temperature and drop the engine performance. Hence, this project focused on design and prototype development of an automotive fuel cooler with the capability to maintain the ideal fuel temperature by means of heat exchanger principles. The prototype was then installed in Proton Satria car and the performance tests were done using an automotive chassis dynamometer. From the test, the fuel cooler was able to cool down the fuel temperature up to 6°C and ensure the engine operates at high performances.
