Abstract

Refurbishing a casing cover of a centrifugal pump is majorly involved in keeping the operational efficiency at its optimum with an expected resource lifespan thereafter. This work elaborates on the thoroughly detailed and comprehensive methodologies for the repairs on worn-out or damaged casing covers while ensuring accurate measurement within quality standards. With some of the steps being initial assessment and measurement using tools, such as callipers, the process continues to provide 3D modelling in SolidWorks for stress analysis and design optimization. This is followed by sand casting in which a mould is made from the 3D model, into which molten metal is poured, then machined through rough and finish milling. The casing cover goes through a performance test to check whether or not it meets the earlier specifications or has improved upon them. The approach also demonstrates a better performing very serviceable and more efficient use of the pump. This report describes stepwise procedure of casing covers refurbishment, thus establishing a sturdy pillar toward durable solutions and optimized centrifugal pump maintenance.
