Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most disruptive technologies nowadays which can efficiently connect, control, and manage intelligent objects that are connected to the Internet. The problem statement such as forget to switch off the electric appliances happened often. Moreover, this problem can lead to a waste of energy and increase the electric bill. This is where the IoT plays a big role to solve this problem by point out the objectives of this project which is to design and develop a smart building management system which able to control electric appliance and monitor energy consumption using a smartphone application and the performance of the system will be analyzed in term of power efficient. This project created a system for controlling and monitoring electric appliances over long distances by using a smartphone. The project consists of hardware and software to develop. The smartphone will function as a remote control and an application was designed using the Blynk Platform. Blynk is an application used for designing applications intended. A hardware microcontroller NodeMCU is used to connect the smartphone to the electrical equipment through the Blynk server. The system has been tested by developing a prototype and test the performance in terms of the power efficient of the project. My project results show that the prototype system is quite capable to achieve high performance with different simulation scenarios. In the end, the system in this project is working successfully as stated in the objective of the project.
