Abstract

The surge in vehicle numbers and limited parking space availability has elevated parking to a critical issue in transportation and infrastructure development. This project aims to address this challenge by implementing a parking distance control system, specifically tailored for terrace housing areas, using advanced technology such as sensors and cameras. The primary objective is to design a car parking distance sensor employing ultrasonic technology, integrating an Arduino Uno Rev3 ATmega328P microcontroller with Bluetooth module HC-06 for IoT connectivity. The project's specific goals include designing IoT systems for the car parking distance sensor, determining optimal distances between different vehicle types and the sensor, and conducting comprehensive testing for safety and effectiveness. The research scope involves identifying potential IoT systems, creating a questionnaire to gather parking experiences, proposing sensor positions based on questionnaire results, selecting appropriate sensor distances and components, testing various car types, and determining suitable sensor positions for all vehicles. By implementing the designed car parking distance sensor system, the project aims to alleviate congestion and parking issues in residential areas, enhance safety, and contribute to efficient parking space management. The project follows a structured sequence encompassing literature study, survey formulation, design and testing of software and hardware circuits, and result analysis. In summary, this project addresses critical parking issues in terraced residential areas by offering an effective distance-sensing solution, aiming to enhance the parking experience, improve safety, and optimize parking space management.
