Abstract
Point to Point Text Communicator is a device that can be used to communicate with another identical device by sending and receiving short messages. The system is a low cost system that can be used to send and receive short message without involving a billing process as the solution to the existing system that involves billing even for a short distance. The purpose of this project is to design the transmitter and receiver device and develop a program for the microcontroller. The device consists of a keypad, a transmitter, a receiver and an Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The input fiom fhe user wiiI be entered by using the keypad in terms of character. The character then will be encoded into a binary code by the microcontroller. The binary code will be converted into an RF signal by the transmitter. In this project, a Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) is used as the microcontroller. The program for the PIC was developed by using the software of PICC PCW. This system operates at the frequency of 315MHz due to the frequency of transmitter and the receiver. The maximum distance between the transmitter and the receiver is 100m.
