Abstract

Currently, flexible electronics are more frequently existing in the wider electronic Industry. Moreover, since the continuous search for a new manufacturing techniques can be observed in electronics sector, a rising interest of inkjet printing appeared in recent years. The study conducted to quantify quality of inkjet printer labelling with different flexible printed circuit board materials. The different type of material was used as flexible printed circuit boards which are Coverlay, PI Stiffener (Polyimide), Silver Shield and Fiber Glass (FR4). In addition, by using microscope, the effect of parameter settings toward quality labelling for different flexible printed circuit board materials was evaluated. The profile used for this research is Standard, Fine and Ultra-fine. Furthermore, this research is an effort to investigate the quality of printing and ink by using adhesion tape test method. As the parameter is depends on the type of materials. Thus, it will affect the quality and application of printed circuit boards. After the tape test method, the samples is observed under microscope and the data of height and width of the ink labelling are obtained by using X-Measure software. For further the research, all each type of materials for Fine profile at region G5 are coating with gold sputter and viewed the details structures using SEM. From this research, it will helps a lot towards the industry that want to sustain their quality of Flexible Printed Circuit Board production.
